As a private hunting club located on an exclusive 3,000-acre estate, environmental responsibility was particularly important to Hudson Farms. However, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness were also a concern, so they called Hance Construction to provide practical sustainability solutions.

We constructed two red and white barn-styled buildings with classic eave and gable design and oversized cupolas to blend with the spectacular country setting. We used the Butler Manufacturing Widespan™ Structural System for its practicality of a rigid frame and unlimited design flexibility. It also allows for maximum, uninterrupted use of interior space, which was important for Hudson Farms.
By using a Butler-engineered steel design and construction, we ensured the most efficient use of raw materials. Thorough testing and computer modeling allows us to maximize raw material efficiencies while erecting the safest buildings available today.
While the two original farm buildings were demolished, all the metal and wood was recycled. A decaying old farm silo originally slated for demolition was also rescued and modernized to create extra usable space. In addition, the main club features environmentally and energy-friendly features such as a solar power array, 9 ½ inches of roof insulation and 6 ½ inches of wall insulation. The buildings not only make mother earth happy, but will make the client happy too with significant lifetime cost savings in terms of maintenance and energy usage.
